Incroyable - Tonga's victory against France in the 2011 Rugby World Cup

October 15th 2011 04:17
Everyone loves a David and Goliath tale, where the little guy laughs in the face of the giant and topples him with a pebble. The Tonga vs France Rugby World Cup Match at Wellington’s cake tin two weeks ago was one of those tales.

Tonga, the tiniest kingdom in the world snatched the game from France, one of the world's most powerful Republics, and ran away to victory.

Tonga supporters, in every conceivable combination of red and white – lavalavas, wigs, jerseys, leis, face-paint and even complete arab garb - laughed and danced while the thousands of coqs francais in their bleu, blanc et rouge looked crestfallen.

It will be remembered as one of the most exciting and entertaining matches of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Malo e le le to Tonga

Quel dommage that Tonga was already out of the cup contest and tant pis that France, despite their unpromising allure, was still in.
